About Me
Emily’s genre-fluid films spans fiction, documentary and interactive work. Previous films include SANDORKRAUT, a New York Times Op-doc; the magical realist short THE NEVER BELL and her lyrical feature SONG OF THE BASQUES. Emily also wrote and produced KARLA’S ARRIVAL, which was short-listed for Spain’s Academy Awards and directed NBC’s Comedy Showcase. Her work has been recognized by a multitude of film festivals as well as Tribeca Film Institute, ITVS, Marble House, Sloan Foundation, Athena-Iris, NBC Talent, European Film Council, Stowe Story Labs and Fulbright Foundation, the Smithsonian and many more. Emily's award-winning screenplays: MIDLAND, a work of magical realism set on Staten Island in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and ALL THAT FOLLOWS a multi-perspective thriller set in the Basque Country have both been optioned with Emily attached to direct. Her first pilot script, a sardonic neo-noir murder mystery, INVISIBLE ISLANDS won a TFI-Sloan Prize. Her newest pilot THE NARRATIVE follows the unlikely friendship of George Plimpton and Muhammad Ali. This year her feminist futurist film THE CLOCK about women’s reproductive rights has already won a few accolades and will continue a post-Covid distribution. She’s currently in pre-production for BIRDIE a caper-comedy set in Mexico and PALETAS an animated short about a popsicle vendor in 1960s NYC. Studies in Literature, Fine Arts, and Music at Amherst College initially sparked her interest in Film. She earned her Masters at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London before jumping into cinematography and art-department in Europe. Emily plays the cello, speaks Spanish, French, and Basque is an elite triathlete. She also volunteers for Billion Oyster Project to revive New York’s waterways and as a translator for detained migrants at the US-Mexico border.
